Western Runners Club to raise money for cancer research

Taking inspiration from the IRONMAN Triathlons and the various Warrior Dash/Tough Mudder-type runs, the Western Runners Club is organizing a multi-sport event this Sunday on the Western Nature Trail.
The first part is a bike race on a course less than one mile long. Racers will try to finish as many laps as possible in a 30-minute time period. The second part of the event is a five kilometer trial run. Racers can compete on bike, on foot, or both.
In addition to being loads of fun for participants and spectators alike, the event will raise money for the Melanoma Research Foundation.  MRF and IRONMAN work together to raise funds to help research ways to combat this most deadly of skin cancers.
Spectators are invited to ring cowbells, join in with the drum circle, and provide good-natured heckling.
