Gymnastics interest meeting scheduled for Oct. 25
For
those girls interested in coming out for the gymnastics team this year,
there will be a strongly encouraged meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 25
at 5:30 pm in the high school cafeteria. There is more information in
the athletic office. Please stop in and pick up the flyer from Mrs.
Bassett.
JV volleyball team dismantles Corunna
Wednesday,
Oct. 18, the JV volleyball team traveled all the way to Corunna and won their
match 25-10, 12-25 and 15-3.
Cassidy Pluta had 13 kills, Susie Davenport had 4 aces and 16 assists. The girls had a great comeback in game three – they played with a vengeance.
Overall record is 17-13-4.

Volleyball team beats Corunna in first round of CAAC Tourney
The Lady Panthers traveled
to Corunna High School to compete in the first round of the CAAC Cup
tournament and defeated the Cavaliers in an exciting, well played
match 25-21, 25-23, and 25-23.
Taylor Johnston had 4 kills, went 13 of 14 serving, 13 digs and was a steady team leader for the night. Libby Breton had 7 kills, 5 digs and 7 blocks. Clara Male and Cheyenne Bolenbaugh added 5 kills each while Alyssa Cinpak had 4 blocks.
The team will host Jackson High on Tuesday. Please come out and support the Lady Panthers!

Class Color Day happening at WHS on Nov. 1
Thursday, Nov. 1, is the last day of the marking period, so we are
celebrating by wearing our class colors to school. Remember that
seniors wear purple, juniors wear blue, sophomores wear orange and
freshmen wear green. Looking forward
to seeing all our school spirit!
Percussion Concussion coming to Michigan Theater
Western's drum line will perform in the Percussion Concussion at the Michigan Theater on Nov. 3. This is a throw down with drum lines from other high schools in the county. Scoring is based on crowd response, so we need to pack the house with Panthers

Spectator bus to take fans to Harper Creek for football game against Buchanan
Friday the Athletic Department is organizing a spectator bus to the varsity game at Harper Creek.
A maximum of 44 people can ride.
It will leave at 6pm in front of the high school.
$7 total for the night: $3 game ticket, plus $4 to ride the bus.
If you have a student pass or family pass, you just need to pay to ride the bus.
Students can start signing up Wednesday in the Athletic Office.
Come out to support your varsity football team in their last game of the season.
Don't be a soccer hooligan: student body advised of fan etiquette
The Western student section
will be located behind the Western bench on the north side of the
seating area for tonight's contest verses Mason.
The Western Athletic Department will be adhering to its Spectator
Sportsmanship guidelines and urges student spectators to cheer for their
team and abstain from comments made to officials or the opposing team
or fans. Any student or adult spectator not
following the Western or MHSAA Guidelines will be removed from the
soccer contest.
Movie Night at the Hub Oct. 18
High school students are invited to The Hub for a movie night on Oct. 18, from 7 to 10 p.m.

Hollow qualifies for State Finals in tennis
Congratulations to senior Landon Hollow, who qualified for this weekend's MHSAA division 3 State Finals Tournament.
Overall, tennis team played well at the Regional Tournament in Chelsea.
"I'm so proud of our team and the steps they took," coach Doug Blume said, "to become the strong competitors they were at the end of the season."

The Lady Panthers competed
in the CAAC Gold Tournament at Charlotte High School.
They faced off first with Lumen Christi and were defeated in an exciting match 25-19, 18-25, 25-22, 21-25 and 10-15.
They defeated Lansing Waverly in the second match up 25-15, 25-12 and 25-19.
They ended the day with a challenging match up with Eaton Rapids. The Lady Panthers defeated ER 26-24, 18-25, 25-23, 21-25 and 15-13.
Libby Breton finished the day with 34 kills and 11 block solos. Taylor Johnston added 19 kills, 3 block solos and 21 digs. Cheyenne Bolenbaugh served 18 aces for the day.

Panthers knock Mounties off their horses with 32-10 victory
The varsity football Panthers broke into the win column on
Senior Night Friday with a 32-10 win over arch-rival Northwest.
Ryan Conklin keyed the offense, throwing for 211 yards on 17-25 passing.
The defense, led by Andy Floate and Tyler Ebersole, shut down the Northwest run game and forced the Mounties to throw against the relentless pass rush led by Max Madden and Trent Hullett.
It was a great way to send our seniors out in their last home game.
The season's last game is next Friday against Buchanan, and will be played at Harper Creek High School. Come see the steadily improving Panthers take on the Bucks. The JV game starts at 5pm, and with the varsity will play afterwards.

Girls basketball interest meeting Thursday during lunches
There will be a basketball meeting during
lunch times on Thursday for all girls (grades 9-12) interested
in playing basketball this season.
The meeting will be held, Oct. 18, in the gym. Tryouts will be held Nov. 5-7. Exact times and additional information will be given at the meeting. Athletes who are unable to attend the meeting can contact Head Coach Tara Kreklau.
