Hollow gets bye, win, before falling to eventual champ
Landon Hollow, with the support of many of his teammates, traveled to
Holland last Thursday night to compete in the Division 3 state tennis
tournament. After a great team dinner Thursday night, we awoke to rain
Friday and moved indoors for the day. Landon drew a bye the first round
and met Max Hartman from Grand Rapids Christian in the second round.
After going down 1-4 in both sets, Landon showed some senior grit and
determination and rallied back to win the match in straight sets, 6-4,
6-4.
Landon then faced the #1 seed and eventual state champion, Max Fleigner from Detriot Country Day and lost in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0. Max was an amazing player and is not only ranked in the state of Michigan, but nationally as well.
We are awaiting word from the MHSAA on whether Landon earned all-state recognition. Congratulations on a great season and a great career at Western High School Landon!
